I cannot write about her
And do her justice
The woman with the
improvisational approach of jazz and the modulations of the blues,
the woman who takes any song and adds too many minutes to make it just right
I cannot pretend to know her, but have no shame in being grateful

settling into the groove
as the needle moves
into, up out of the blues

She takes a pause and says “someone get me a little bitta water”
